Two students have committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in Bogra over their poor performance in the ongoing Secondary School Certificate examinations.
The deceased are Fardin, 16, son of Emadadul Haque Masum in Tinpotti area of Bogra city, and Manik Mia, 16, of Tgalta Majgram union in the district’s Nandigram upazila.
A student of Bogra Central School, Fardin fell sick and started vomiting up blood on Saturday morning as he took poisonous pills. He was rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College, where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Fardin’s family filed an unnatural death case with Bogra sadar police station.
On Friday, Manik had an altercation with his mother over his exams. As he fell sick after taking toxic tablets, Manik was taken to a local doctor, who declared him dead on Saturday morning, local union parishad Chairman Abdul Matin said, quoting family sources.
An unnatural death case was filed with Nandigram police station in this connection.
