At least 13 people have been detained from Natore and Barisal districts for their alleged involvement in leaking questions of SSC and equivalent exams.
They were detained on Thursday.
In Natore: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained 10 examinees of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) for carrying soft copies of leaked chemistry question paper with solution on their cell phones.
They were detained from in front of Chandpur High School examination centre in Lalpur upazila on Thursday.
“Acting on a tip-off, RAB members raided the area and caught the students red-handed just before the exam,” said Nazrul Islam, the upazila’s executive officer (UNO).
RAB 5 Natore commander Major Shibli Mostafa said: “We have confiscated the examinees’ mobile phones. They have been taken to the upazila parishad office for further interrogation.”
Identities of the detained students have not been disclosed.
Legal measures will be taken against them after investigation, the UNO Nazrul said.
In Barisal: Three people, including two madrasa teachers, were detained for clicking pictures of English question paper of madrasa board and sending it to people outside the exam centre for answers.
The detainees are Afsar Uddin Fazil Degree Madrasa English teacher Saidur Rahman, same madrasa's peon Abdul Karim and Kauria K A Dhakhil Madrasa government (BSC) teacher Md Shahjahan.
Police sources said acting on a tip-off, members of the law enforcement agency conducted a raid in the madrasa and detained the trio.
Hizla police station Office-in-Charge Masudur Rahman said: "They have confessed to the crime. They send pictures to people outside the exam centre to get answers of the questions."
He said action will be taken against them.
