Chittagong University (CU) authorities have suspended former assistant proctor Anwar Hossain, who is now behind bars in a murder case.
The accused, also an assistant professor of sociology department, was shown arrested in connection with the murder case of Chhatra League central leader Diaz Irfan Chowdhury.
The university authorities issued the suspension order on Sunday as per staff (efficiency and discipline) rules of the university.
According to the order, signed by the registrar of the university, the teacher was suspended since a court ordered to send him to jail after he had surrendered before it on December 18, 2017 and he will remain suspended until further notice.

Mentionable, the former joint secretary of CU BCL unit, also assistant secretary of central BCL, Diaz Irfan, was found dead in his flat located near Chittagong University (CU) Gate No 2 area under Hathazari police station on November 20 last year.
Police recovered his hanging body from his bedroom but they are yet to determine the exact cause behind the death.
The family alleged that the body was hanged after he was killed. His mobile phone was missing, they said.
Diaz's mother alleged her son was murdered as a sequel to rivalry among BCL leaders centring a tender of the university.
