A 10-kilometre long tailback was created on Dhaka-Tangail highway after a train crashed into a truck at Dhurua level crossing early Wednesday.
Dhaka's rail communications with northern and southern regions of the country, which was halted due to the accident, has resumed after the truck was removed with the help of police, fire service and station workers around 7am.
Earlier around 3:45am, a train ran over a truck which had earlier broken down at Dhurua level crossing in Tangail's Mirzapur upazila. The accident halted Dhaka's rail services with the northern and southern parts of the country and caused traffic congestion from Gorai area to Dulla on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.
Kafil Uddin, station officer of Mirzapur Fire Service, confirmed the matter and said the accident took place when a Dhumketu Express train hit a truck at Dhurua level crossing.
The accident left a helper of another truck, who was standing behind the vehicle, severely injured.
The injured was later taken to Kaliakoir Hospital in Gazipur.
