Saiful Islam Bijoy was suspended in connection with the assault of a journalist which took place on July 10 last year.  The journalist in question was taking photos while alleged Chhatra League activists were vandalising a bus in front of the RU campus. Chhatra League RU unit President Golam Kibria said: “Disciplinary action was taken against Saiful. He pledged not to violate party discipline anymore and applied for his suspension to be lifted. The central committee has lifted the suspension after reviewing the application.” Earlier, Chhatra League lifted the suspension on RU unit leader Mahmudur Rahman Kanon in November last year. Kanon had also been suspended in connection with July’s assault.
