400 opium poppy plants recovered from Bogra nurseries
Members of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) have recovered about 400 opium poppy plants from three nurseries in Bogra Sadar upazila. DNC Inspector Shahjalal Khan said team of the DNC, on a tip-off, had launched a drive in Gokul area under the upazila and recovered the opium poppy plants from three nurseries on Sunday afternoon. The narcotics officials, however, did not take any legal action against the nurseries as the nursery owners and staff claimed they were growing and selling the species as flower plants. Legal steps will taken if they are found to grow it in future,” she said. The seized plants were destroyed by the narcotics officials.
