The Coast Guard on Friday night recovered 500kg of crabs, around 50,000 prawns, a deer head and two deer hides abandoned by poachers in the Sundarbans.
Acting on a tip-off, Bangladesh Coast Guard carried out two raids late on Friday night near the Sundarbans forest area in Khulna, said a press release signed by Coast Guard West Zone Operation Officer Lt M H I Siddique.
500kg of crab and around 50,000 prawns were recovered from Koyra’s Satbaria River.
Meanwhile, a deer head and two skins were recovered from Kalabi Canal of Dacope upazilla.
However, sensing the presence of Coast Guard officials, poachers fled the area before they could be captured.
The Coast Guard have handed over the recovered deer head and skins to the Hadda Forest Office, while the crabs and prawns have been released in aquatic areas of the Sundarbans.
