Fugitive convict in journo Manik Saha murder case held

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a fugitive convict, who was sentenced to life term imprisonment for murdering in Ekusey Padak winning journalist Manik Saha, from bus stand area of Satkhira district town. The elite force official arrested Billal Bepari on Monday night. A team of RAB conducted a drive at night and arrested Billal, said assistant superintendent of Police Bazlur Rahman of RAB 6. He said he arrestee was brought to Khulna on Tuesday morning. Manik Saha, a stringer of BBC Bangla Service, senior reporter of daily New Age and Dainik Sangbad and Khulna chapter president of Amnesty International, was awarded with Ekushey Padak posthumously. He was killed in a bomb attack on January 15 in 2004 at Chhota Mirzapur, in Khulna. On November 30, 2016, Khulna Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal sentenced nine people, including Billal, to life imprisonment for the murder.
