Man murders disabled nephew to frame opponents
A man killed his physically challenged nephew to put the blame on his opponents in Moulvibazar’s Sreemangal, the Police Bureau of Investigation has said after cracking the case. Investigators told the media on Thursday that Ariful Islam alias Arif Hossain was murdered in cold blood by own uncle Yakut Ali in June last year. Two neighbouring families in East Hajipur village fought a pitched battle on June 24, 2017, after a heated argument over washing of dishes at a nearby pond. Several people were injured in the clash. About an hour later, Yakut took his nephew out of the house and hit him in the head. He left with Arif on a three-wheeler under the pretext of taking him to hospital. On the way, Yakut and his associates murdered Arif and took the body to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital. Arif’s father filed a murder case with Sreemangal police on June 26 accusing 18 people. He filed a no-confidence petition in court after police dropped the names of the accused. The court ordered PBI to investigate the case. During the investigation, PBI arrested the case’s witness Yakut and Md Tofail Ahmed on January 13 this year. The duo confessed to their crime before the court. The three-wheeler used in the killing was seized from Bhairabganj on Thursday. “Yakut murdered his disabled nephew to frame old enemies,” PBI’s Additional Superintendent Police Md Shahadat Hossain said. He said the case was still under investigation and hoped to uncover more information.
