The Election Commission will begin preparing for the 11th parliamentary election in October this year, said Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda, also hoping that every registered political party would participate in the election.
“The preparations [for the election] will begin from October and the election will take place either in December or in January next year,” the CEC told reporters during an exchange of views at Satkhira Circuit House on Monday afternoon.
In reply to a query about BNP’s proposed polls-time supporting government, Nurul said: “This is a political matter. The government will make a decision on this.”
The CEC also clarified that no electronic voting machine would be used during the general polls.
“Before the polls, some constituencies will be redistricted due to administrative difficulties, river erosion, and other adhering reasons,” he said.
Later, the CEC attended another exchange of views with election officials at Satkhira Zilla Election Office.
