15km tailback on Dhaka-Tangail highway
A 15-kilometre long tailback has been created on Dhaka-Tangail highway due to suspended vehicular movement at Bangabandhu Bridge following disruptions caused by dense fog, and road accidents since Sunday morning. The tailback has been created from Bangabandu Bridge till Elenga area, causing suffering to passengers amid cold weather. Police sources said, the authorities have suspended the traffic at Bangabandhu Bridge from 5am till 6:30am. Meanwhile, a North Bengal-bound pickup crashed into a truck at Jokarchar area under Kalihati upazila. Another accident took place in the same upazila's Kamakkhamor area between two trucks. The accidents left four people injured. Bangabandhu Bridge East police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Asabur Rahman confirmed the incidents. Elenga highway police outpost Officer-in-Charge Tariqul said: "Police are trying to ease the congestion."
