Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route have resumed after about eight hours.
The services were suspended on early Saturday as dense fog reduced visibility.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) authorities resumed ferry services and plying of the water vessels on the route from 10am as the fog lifted, said Nasir Uddin Mohammad Chowdhury, assistant general manager of BIWTC at Aricha.
Five ferries remained stuck in the middle of the river while seven others lay anchored at Paturia and four at Daulatdia terminals with a good number of vehicles and passengers on board.
Hundreds of vehicles with goods and passengers are waiting to be ferried across the river, he added.
