Suspected robber killed in Comilla ‘gunfight’

A suspected robber has been killed in a “gunfight” with detectives at Alekharchar Amtoli area under Sadar upazila of Comilla district. The deceased is Abu Taher, 28, son of Abul Khayer Miah, a resident of Songraish area of Comilla city and a leader of a robber gang. Comilla Detective Branch (DB) of Police Officer-in-charge (OC) Manzurul Alam said the incident took place around 1:30am on Sunday. "Taher was the prime accused in the robbery case of Tk40 lakh from Max Company in South Chartha area last year," he said. The DB police also detained a member of the gang.
