Thirty five policemen were injured as a bus carrying them plunged into a roadside ditch in the Central Bus Terminal area of Kushtia on Saturday night.
The bus carrying 40 policemen plunged into the ditch as the driver lost control over the steering wheel and hit a roadside tree around 10:30 pm while giving side to a truck, said police sources, adding that most of the injured were from Barisal Range Police.
Members of Kushtia fire service rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.
"Among the injured, the condition of five policemen was critical," said Taposh Kumar Sarker, a resident medical officer of Kushtia General Hospital.
They were injured while returning to barracks after providing protocol to President Abdul Hamid at Shilaidaha Kuthibari, the sources added.
