It has been two days since United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) leader Mithun Chakma was murdered in Khagrachhari, yet no case has been filed with police in this regard.
Mithun, an organizer of the Chittagong Hill Tracts-based political group, was shot dead by unknown assailants in Khagrachhari Sadar upazila on Wednesday.
“We have not yet received any complaint over [Mithun's] murder. Once that happens, police will investigate and take necessary actions,” Khagrachhari Sadar police station OC Abdul Hannan told the Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.

Mithun’s family members said he would be buried in the evening on Friday.
Condemning the murder, UPDF leader Michael Chakma alleged that a government-backed masked terror group had killed Mithun.
Mithun was returning home at Aparna Chowdhury Para area after making an appearance before a court in a case, when a group of armed assailants abducted him around 12:30pm on Wednesday.
They then took Mithun to the upazila’s Sluice Gate area and shot him six times – in the head and the abdomen.
After finding the 38-year-old in a critical condition, locals had rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
