A seven kilometre-long tailback has been created from Elenga to Rabna Bypass area on the Dhaka-Tangail highway following disruptions caused by dense fog and a cascade collision of 13 vehicles on the Bangabandhu Bridge on Friday morning.
Mobarak Hossain, a bus passenger headed towards Bhuapur from Tangail sadar, told the Dhaka Tribune: “It took me about one and a half hours to reach Pouli from Rabna Bypass, whereas the distance could be covered in 15 minutes.”
Elenga highway police outpost's Sergeant Azizur Rahman said the highway police were working tirelessly to ease the traffic situation. “Hope we'll be able to bring back normalcy very soon.”

Police said traffic on the bridge was halted for three hours due to dense fog early Friday.
The vehicles collided with each other on the lane to Dhaka after the traffic resumed around 6am, injuring 30 people.
Bangabandhu Bridge east police station Officer-in-Charge Asabur Rahman said: “The accidents took place due to dense fog.”
