Members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police have detained a man with nine human skeletons from Shrirampur area of Rajshahi city.
Senior Assistant Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), Iftekhar Alam said one Shukur Ali, 28, with the skeletons was detained from the Padma riverbank in Shrirampur area.
According to police, Shukur was caught red-handed while he was smuggling in a consignment of human skeletons from India to Rajshahi.
Sukur, son of late Anwar Hossain of Shrirampur, had been involved in the business of smuggling human skeletons from India and supply those in different areas of Rajshahi and the rest of the country, added the RMP police official.
Shukur will be produced before a Rajshahi court on Monday.
Earlier in February this year, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered eight human skeletons from Ghoshpara area near Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).
In December last year, the border guards recovered another consignment of 11 human skulls and a number of different skeleton parts from Majardia Purbopara area along the border.
In 2015, the detectives recovered 15 sets of human skeletons from the morgue of RMCH and arrested two forensic assistants in connection with the seizuer.
