UPDF leader shot dead in Rangamati
A leader of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was shot to death in a reported gunfight in Bandukbhanga union of sadar upazila, Rangamati early Saturday. The deceased was identified as Anol Bikash Chakma alias Pluto Chakma, 42, a resident of Kawkhali upazila and the organizer of Bandukbhanga union unit of UPDF. Satyajit Barua, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station, said that locals, who heard several gunshots in the dead of night, spotted the body of Pluto at Dhamoirchhara in the morning and informed police.

On information, police and members of Bangladesh Army visited the spot. Protesting the murder incident, Mukhosh Bahini Protirodh Committee announced a half-day blockade of roads and waterways in the district for December 19. Earlier on December 5, another UPDF leader Anoti Ranjan Chakma was shot to death by miscreants in Bogachhori area of Naniarchar upazila.
