President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have paid tributes to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar on the occasion of the Victory Day.
They placed the wreaths at the altar of the National Memorial at 6:34am on Saturday.
After placing the wreaths, they stood in solemn silence for some time to show profound respect to the memories of the martyrs of the Liberation War, reports BSS.
A smartly turned out contingent drawn from army, navy and the air force presented state salute when bugles played the last post.
Cabinet members, PM's advisers, parliament members, chiefs of the three services, diplomats, and senior civil and military officials were also present there.
Sheikh Hasina, flanked by senior leaders of Awami League, laid another wreath at the National Memorial as the party chief.
Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Transport Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Food Minister Qamrul Islam, and senior party leaders Sahara Khatun, Abdur Razzak, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Hasan Mahmud and Abdus Sobhan Gopal, among others, were also present there.
