Rangamati district Jubo League on Wednesday announced a dawn-to-dusk hartal on Thursday, protesting the killing of Jubo League leader Arbindu Chakma.
On Wednesday, a daylong hartal was observed in Jurachhari upazila after it was called by the upazila unit of Chhatra League.

All business establishments remained closed in the morning while public transport, including water vehicles, was suspended marking the hartal.
On Tuesday evening, Arbindu Chakma, general secretary of the Jurachhari upazila unit of Jubo League, the youth wing of ruling Awami League, was shot dead by unidentified assailants at Mitingachhari Bazar.
In a separate attack around the same time, Bilaichhari upazila Awami League Vice-President Russell Marma was assaulted by a group wielding melee weapons.
Russell was grievously injured, but survived. He has been admitted to the upazila health complex for treatment.
