Kazi Nabil Ahmed, lawmaker from Jessore 3 constituency, has said the incumbent government is working for equal development across Bangladesh.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the current government is carrying out the task of equal development across the country,” he said while addressing a discussion as the chief guest on the 25th anniversary of Jessore College at the college campus on Monday.
The MP also mentioned that 26 multi-storey school buildings had been constructed in Jessore under the present government's term, while 60 more were awaiting construction.
He added that it would be possible to provide electricity to 100% of the people in Jessore within the next year.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has allocated Tk600 crore for restoring navigability of the Bhairab River, Nabil Ahmed said.
The discussion was presided over by Gemcon Group Director Dr Kazi Anis Ahmed, who is also the chairman of the managing committee of Jessore College.
Kazi Anis Ahmed said: “It requires labour, merit and perseverance to build a social institution. That is why we should remember those who contribute to building these social institutions. And the only way to pay tribute to them is to implement the goals with which they created these institutions. At the same time, it is the duty of the post-'71 generations to pay tribune to those who liberated the state called Bangladesh.”
Earlier in the morning, a colourful rally led by the Kazi Anis Ahmed paraded through important streets in Jessore town to mark the silver jubilee of Jessore College.
