Missing Catholic priest found in Sylhet

Police have found Catholic priest Walter William Rozario from Sylhet's Dakshin Surma upazila, after he had gone missing from Natore on Monday. Natore Superintendent of Police Bijoy Talukdar said the priest was located by a team of district police at the ticket counter of “Shyamoli Paribahan” bus stand at Dakshin Surma upazila around 4pm on Friday. The clergyman has been taken to the Police Headquarters in Dhaka. He will be taken to Natore from the capital and then handed over to his family members.

Walter William Rozario, 40, is an assistant priest of a Jonail Catholic Church in Natore’s Boraigram upazila and son of late Sylvester Rozaria and Patricia Rozario of Bonpara Christian Palli under the upazila. He was scheduled to show up at the church around 5pm after leaving his residence at Bonpara Christian Palli, but he never made it, said Father Subroto Purification, head priest of the church.

William Rozario was a neighbour of trader Sunil Gomez, who was killed on June 5 last year. International militant group Islamic State claimed responsibility for the murder of 60-year-old Sunil in a tweet the next day.
