Islamic hardliner Hefazat-e-Islam chief Shah Ahmed Shafi has said the Jews spread mobile phones to destroy Muslims.
He made the statement at a seminar in Chittagong on Saturday.
“This mobile phone is ruining our complete social system. Keep our sons and daughters away from mobile phones,” he said.
Shafi said: “Hefazat has no political goals. It does not have amity or enmity with anybody for political gains.”
“The sovereignty and independence of the country can be protected by leaders who have faith in God. There will be no injustice, bribery, corruption and anarchy in the country if it is ruled by such leaders. And justice will prevail all over the society,” the cleric added.

He said Hefazat is a spiritual and self-corrective organization. “It is a universal apolitical platform. The objective of the organisation is to protect the belief, culture and tenets of Islam, raise consciousness among Muslims, and wage ‘methodical’ movement over religious issues,” he further added.
Among the others, Junayed Babunagari, Maulana Nurul Islam, Maulana Azizul Hoque, Maulana AFM Khaled Hossain, Maulana Mufti Foyezullah, Maulana Mamunul Hoque and Maulana Mufti Hasan Promukh spoke at the programme.
