The Sylhet regional round of the 9th National Undergraduate Mathematics Olympiad 2017 will be held at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) on November 25.
A press release signed by Associate Professor Dr Chandrani Nag of the Department of Mathematics at SUST, also the member secretary of the organising committee of the event's Sylhey regional round, confirmed the matter on Sunday.
According to the press release, all honours students of Sylhet division will be allowed to register and take part in the event.
Aspiring students are asked to contact the committee's convener, Professor Dr Anowarul Islam (01919-064555), and Associate Professor Dr Nag (01916-129200) for detailed information regarding the Olympiad.
The participants will have to report to the authorities at the SUST handball ground at 9am on the day as the opening ceremony of the event will be held 30 minutes later.
The written test will start at 10am, while the Q&A session will be held at 2pm.
SUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed and Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, among others, will attend the Olympiad on the university campus.
Meanwhile, the Dhaka south region round will also be held on Saturday.
Top 10 contestants selected from the regional rounds will fight for the title in the finale, scheduled to be held on December 29 at Dhaka University.
Bangladesh Mathematical Society in partnership with AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation is organising the competition in six regions—Chittagong, Khulna, Dhaka south and north, Sylhet and Rajshahi.
