Two pirates killed in Sundarbans after engaging RAB patrol
Two members of a pirate group, including the second in-command of Abbas Bahini in Bagerhat, were killed in a gunfight with RAB at Katlar Khal of Baleshwar River under Shoronkhola range on Wednesday. The deceased are have been identified as Yusuf Fakir and Ruhul Amin. RAB-8 Wing Commander Rajib told the Dhaka Tribune: "A RAB team was out patrolling near Sundarbans' Katalar Khal early in the morning. They saw plumes of smoke in the forest and approached to investigate." During the drive the pirates opened fire at the RAB men. RAB retaliated, shooting two pirates dead. Local fishermen later confirmed that the deceased were the members of Abbas Bahini. The RAB team recovered firearms and ammunition from the site.
