Rail communication on the Khulna-Rajshahi route has partially resumed after about five hours of disruption caused by a derailment in Kushtia.
Two bogies of Rajshahi-bound Modhumoti Express from Khulna veered off the track at Kushtia's Bheramara railway station aruond 7:30pm on Sunday, blocking all the rail tracks on the route.
A relief train from Ishwardi rushed to the spot within hours and started the salvage operation. The relief train was able to clear one of the tracks by 2am on Monday, said Bangladesh Railway (West Zone) Pakshi Divisional Manager Ashim Kumar Talukder.
Train services has resumed partially on one of the tracks since the early hours and the relief train will be able bring it to normal by 2pm Monday, he added.
A four-member probe body has been formed to investigate the accident.
