Bangladesh Army has started participating in the relief distribution and rehabilitation programme for the Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar.
Around 550 members of the 10th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army have been distributing relief in the area since Saturday.
Army has set up eight camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf to conduct the distribution work.
On Wednesday, the Road Transport and Bridges Minster Obaidul Quader announced the government’s decision to deploy Bangladesh Army to join the relief distribution and rehabilitation programme for the Rohingya refugees.
At least 430,000 Rohingya refugees, both Muslims and Hindus, have come to Bangladesh fleeing persecution in their homeland in Myanmar's Rakhine state.
The Myanmar army has been conducting an "anti-terror operation" in Rakhine against the insurgent group Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) since August 25 - which has led to the exodus of the Rohingya.
