The police have arrested the prime suspect in a case filed over the stealing of two rare ancient swords from Kuthibari, house of renowned poet Rabindranath Tagore, located on the Padma riverbank at Shilaidah in Kushtia. Abdul Mannan was arrested from his Shilaidah village home on Thursday. Mannan is being quizzed, said Officer-in-Charge (acting) Abdul Khaleque of Kumarkhali police station, adding that they were yet to recover the swords. On March 30 last year, the two swords were stolen from Kuthibari, where Rabindranath lived a part of his life and composed some of his memorable poems while living there. Kuthibari custodian Mokhlesur Rahman lodged the case with the police station the following day against some unnamed people.
