Tungipara set to observe National Mourning Day

Preparations are complete in Tungipara in Gopalganj to observe the National Mourning Day 2017 and 42nd martyrdom anniversary of the architect of independence and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman today. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, ministers, MPs, various political parties and people from all walks of life will pay their respect at Bangabandhu’s grave in the morning. Floral wreaths will be placed by the prime minister at 10am. She will also take part in a special prayer for Bangabandhu and other bereaved family members assassinated on August 15, 1975. Hasina will take part in a Milad Mahfil at the Mazar Complex. Black flags will fly atop the offices of all government, semi-government, autonomous bodies and educational institutions on the day. A 116km long gateway from Mawa to Tungipara has been set up marking the day. Sydur Raman, officer-in-charge of Gopalganj police station, said necessary security measures have been taken for the people coming to the programmes.
