Flood casualties reach 28
As heavy rain and water from India keeps bolstering the flood, casualties in the northern region of Bangladesh are on the rise. The current casualties now stand at 28.


Over the past three days, 15 people have died due to the flood in Dinajpur.


One person has been reported dead in Thakurgaon.


Bodies of five people were found washed away by floodwater in Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila, were recovered early Monday. The deceased were identified as Mozammel Haque, 45, Asma Begum, 38, Abu Hanif, 36, and Alif , from the same village. One still remains dunidentified.


A 70-year-old man drowned when he went out to check on his crops in Phulbari, Kurigram. A child’s body was found floating in the water. The child has not been identified. On Sunday night, two women in separate incidents, slipped and fell in the water and were found dead in the same upazila. On Monday afternoon, another man was found dead in sadar upazila.


One person has been reported dead in Gaibandha.


A child has been found dead in Sunamganj on Monday. Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said that at least 20 people have died in the flood in the northern districts over the past two days.
