Two arrested over CNG driver murder in Chittagong
A CNG autorickshaw driver was beaten and hacked to death by criminals in a jungle in Satkania upazila, Chittagong early on Tuesday. Police detained two persons convicted in the case - Belal, 22, and Jakir Hossen, 20. The deceased was identified as Md Abul Bashar, 35, son of Sultan Ahmed from Satkania upazila, said police. Satkania police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune: “Locals spotted Bashar's body inside a bush in a jungle in Gonipara in the morning and informed police. The police recovered the dead body and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for autopsy.” “Bashar was beaten and stabbed to death sometime during Monday night. Multiple injuries were found on his body”, added the OC while mentioning the two arrestees detained by the police. Chandanish police station’s OC Farid Uddin Khondokar said: “A police patrol team from Chandanaish police station arrested Belal and Jakir for their suspicious activities when they tried to flee from the murder spot in the early hours of the morning. They were later handed over to Satkania police station.”
