Ex-revenue officer drowns in Chittagong rainwater
The body of a former government official, who drowned in a drain filled with rainwater in Dampara of the city on Sunday night, was recovered from a canal in Bakolia’s Miyakhan area on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Shilbrata Barua Swapan, 70, a resident of Mirzapur village in Hathazari. He retired as a revenue officer. Pranab Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Bakolia police station, said Shilbrata slipped into the drain on a waterlogged road while getting into his car at the spot. Later, locals found his body in Chandpai Khal, 5km off the spot the accident spot, around 11:30am and informed police. On information, police recovered the body.
