Human chain demands arrest of Sukhia’s killers
Citizens have formed a human chain in Habiganj town demanding to arrest within 72 hours all those who were involved in the killing of indigenous woman Sukhia Robidas. Habiganj Robidas Somaj Kalyan Sangathan and Habiganj Puja Udjapon Committee jointly organised the human chain in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Officeon Tuesdsay. Sukhia Robidas, a 30-year-old widow of Surabai village in Habiganj Sadar upazila, was beaten to death by her neighbour Saidu Mian on Saturday. Police arrested Saidu on the same day. Soma Robidas, younger sister of the victim, filed a case in this connection against Saidu and four others on Monday. Witnesses claimed Shaidu had entered Sukhia’s house aorund 7am on Saturday, finding her home alone. Sometime later, Sukhia was seen running away from the house. Shaidu chased the woman wielding a log, and at one point the victim stumbled on the rough ground. The man was seen hitting the woman brutally with the log, leaving her dead on the spot.
