Update : 09 Jun 2017, 01:18 AM
The district administration has imposed a ban till June 30 on all types of meetings, rallies and processions in important points of Khagrachhari district. The ban was imposed to contain the law and order situation on the aftermath of Wednesday’s sporadic clashes among groups of indegenous peoples, Bangalee settlers and police. The district administration took the decision in a meeting held at the district administration conference room yesterday with Deputy Commissioner Md Rashedul Islam in the chair. Representatives of the Zila Parishad, Upazila Parishad, Border Guard Bangladesh and police administration were also present at the meeting. Sporadic clashes took places in the district town on Wednesday after police went into action to foil counter programmes by groups of the indegeneous community and Bangalee settlers over different issues including the recent Langadu attack. In the meeting, the deputy commissioner sought cooperation from the Zila Parishad and Upazila Parishad for installing CC cameras at important points of the district.
