Rapid Action Battalion has arrested five militants of a new faction of banned Islamist outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Dhanharia-Chuadanga of Jhenaidah.
RAB made the arrests in a drive conducted early Friday.
They are Md Abdul Latif, 36, Saheb Ali, 48, Md Shahinuzzaman, 25, Md Al Amin Islam, 20, and Kawsar Jinnurain, 37.
RAB 6 Commander Md Munir Ahmed said: “An anti-terrorism drive was conducted in Jhenaidah's Chuadanga, Porahati and Pagla Kanai areas.”
He said: “The five suspects arrested are members of the Sarwar-Tamim faction of JMB and trained in using various arms and explosives.
“They are close associates of deceased militants Abdullah and Tuhin."
Another militant Limon, who had remained traceless since another drive conducted on May 7 in Jhenaidah, was also close to the arrestees, he added.
The arrestees were sent to jail by a court Friday afternoon.
