Nayem Ashraf, one of the prime accused in the Banani rape case, has been apprehended by police from Munshiganj.
IGP AKM Shahidul Haque confirmed he was arrested from Louhajong upazila around 8:45pm Wednesday.
Munshiganj Superintendent of Police Jayedul Alam said a detective team from police headquarters had arrested him in Louhajang with the aid of local police. The team immediately left for Dhaka with the fugitive, he said.
Nayem is the last of the five accused in the rape case to be caught. His cohorts Shafat Ahmed and Shadman Sakif were caught from Sylhet on Friday. Shafat's bodyguard and driver, accomplice to the rape, were caught Monday night.
