Rescuers recovered bodies of two siblings and another from Sandwip Channel of Chittagong Wednesday, three days after a boat capsize incident, raising the death toll to 17.
On Monday, five bodies were recovered by the Coast Guard and nine others the following day.
The boat carrying around 40 persons capsized near Ghuptachara Ghat on Sunday night due to rough weather and heavy tidal waves, said police. Three more still remain missing since the incident.

Local administration recovered the three bodies near the capsize spot after being informed by locals. The dead are Tahsin, 9, and Nova, 5, and primary school teacher Anwar Hossain, Sandwip Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Golam Zakaria told the Dhaka Tribune.
Later the bodies were handed over to the victims’ families.
Tahsin and Nova were students of Mastermind Ideal School in the city’s Halishahar. They went to Sandwip to attend their uncle’s marriage ceremony which is scheduled to be held Friday.
“According to the missing list, three persons including one Harunur Rashid, an official of Pubali Construction Ltd of Sandwip, have still remained missing,” UNO Zakaria said.
