Addicted Tangail man killed by mother after attempted rape

A mother in Tangail killed her son, a drug addict, on Wednesday when he tried to rape her. Police rescued the body of Hazrat Ali, 28, from his home at Binnafoir area in Sadar upazila and sent it to Tangail General Hospital for post-mortem. Nazmul Haque Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Tangail Model police station, said: “Halima Begum, mother of the deceased, admitted in primary interrogation that she killed her son when he returned home and tried to rape her. He died on the spot after being hit with an axe.” Police arrested her from their home, the official said, where Halima was found sitting next to her son's body. The OC also said that Hazrat was known as a drug addict in his area and had two cases against him with the Tangail police station. He was released from jail around a week ago.
