World Water Day observed
The World Water Day-2017 was observed here as elsewhere in the country in a befitting manner. Water Aid Bangladesh, in association with HSBC Bangladesh and Sajida Foundation, arranged a programme at T&T Adarsha Girls’ High School, Wireless Gate, Mohakhali marking the day. CEO of HSBC Bangladesh Francois de Maricourt, Director of Fundraising & Learning of WaterAid Bangladesh Dr Imrul Kayes Muniruzzaman will, among others, be present at the programme. Thousands of school children took part in the programme through various colourful activities with much enthusiasm. Our Jamalpur correspondent reported that to mark the day, a discussion was held at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner The speakers at a discussion meeting said water contamination is a global problem. They said people should be much aware to prevent water pollution for the survival of people as well as environment. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Shahabuddin Khan attended the meeting as the chief guest with Executive Engineer of Water Development Board Naba Kumar Chowdhury in the chair. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Rasel Sabrin, Executive Engineer, Department of Public Health and Engineering, Md Anwar Yusuf and Vice-President of District Awami League, Syed Atiqur Rahman Sana  also spoke in the meeting. Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Rasel Sabrin was brought out a rally from Bakultola area in the town. The day was also in many other districts including Jhenaidha, Shariatpur, Comilla, Bagerhat and Noakhali districts.
