A school teacher was killed after a truck ran her over on Karnaphuli Bridge 3 in the Bakalia area of Chittagong city on Wednesday.
The deceased Sakera Khatun, 40, was an assistant teacher of Uttar Diang Government Primary School and the elder sister of Latefa Runa, the Chittagong bureau in-charge of Deepto TV.
The tragic accident took place at around 8:45am, when the school teacher was waiting to board a bus.
Eye-witnesses and police said that the accident took place after a bus rammed into the truck. The truck driver lost control of his vehicle as a result of the collision and ran over the school teacher.

Critically injured, the school teacher was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead, said a police outpost source.
Bakalia police OC Pranab Kumar Chowdhury told the Dhaka Tribune that the drivers of the bus and the truck managed to flee the scene of the accident.
“However, their vehicles were seized from the spot.”
Following the accident, agitated colleagues of the school teacher blocked the road for half an hour. Vehicular movement resumed after the blockade was lifted.
