According to Wikipedia, Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (Pi). The day is observed on March 14 throughout the world. The earliest known large-scale celebration of the day was organised in 1988 at San Francisco.
On March 12, 2009, the US House of Representatives passed a non-binding resolution recognising the day as National Pi day. Later, Google presented a doodle celebrating the day in 2010.
The day was observed for the first time in Bangladesh in 2006.
Prof Rashed Talukdar of SUST said: “We observe the day to create interest in mathematics among young students.”
