Section 144 notices imposed in Brahmanbaria

Local authorities in Sarail and Kasba upazilas of Brahmanbaria district have imposed Section 144 notices which will remain in force from 6am to midnight on Thursday. In Sarail, the upazila administration imposed Section 144 as two groups of Juba League - the front organisation of the ruling Awami League - opted to bring out a procession and hold a rally at the same time on the Shahjadapur High School grounds. “The ban on any meeting and procession will remain in place there from 8am to Thursday midnight,” Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Umme Israt told the Dhaka Tribune. Meanwhile, Kasba UNO Hasina Islam also imposed the same restriction in her upazila as two committees of Kuti Atal Bihari High School announced to hold a meeting at the venue at the same time.
