Local sources said Jahedul had been in a relationship with the girl, who is a student of Kalarmarchhora Ideal Madrasa, for close to four years. He recently had been frequently asking her to marry him. As the girl had always rebuffed him saying she would do so only when she reached the suitable age for marriage and completed her studies, Jahedul swooped in on the 15-year-old on the night of February 25 and brutally attacked her with a blade. On February 27, the victim’s uncle Helal Uddin lodged a case with the police station against six people including Jahed, his brother Md Rasel and father Lokman.
