Imam joins BAF’s bakery in Jessore
Seventeen-year-old Iman Sheikh, son of Abdul Latif of Sardarpara village in Tungipara upazila, confirmed this correspondent he had joined as a carrier at Falcon Bakery in BAF Jessore base on Wednesday on a monthly salary of Tk 7,984. His job is to cater the bakery items to some 25-30 outlets maintained by the BAF at the base and Shaheen College area. Imam has been appointed on a temporary basis as there is a provision to issue circular for any permanent recruitment in the air force, said Warrant Officer Abdul Hye, in-charge of Falcon Bakery. The higher authorities will make Imam’s appointment permanent after issuing a circular, he added. Talking to this correspondent, Imam expressed his excitement and thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the fulfillment of his desire. The rickshaw puller also thanked the media for focusing on his hardship and conveying his wishes to all following the sudden rickshaw-van ride of the Prime Minister and her close relatives at their village home Tungipara, Gopalganj on January 27, while she was visiting the ancestral home of Father of the Nation. Though Imam could not instantly speak out his wish to the Prime Minister to get a job, the media reports on the event caught the eyes of higher authorities who called up Imam later on January 29 to arrange a job in Bangladesh Air Forces for him.
