New navy chief pays tribute to Bangabandhu

The newly-appointed chief of naval staff, Vice-Admiral Mohammad Shaheen Iqbal, on Monday paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his grave at Tungipara in Gopalganj.

A press release was issued in this regard by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Meanwhile, Monira Rowshan Iqbal, the president of the Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Association (BNFWA), also paid homage to the great leader by placing a wreath at his grave.

Later the freshly appointed Navy chief and the BNFWA took part in a special prayer seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, read the release. 

Following which the Navy chief visited the local home, museum, and library of the Father of the Nation and signed the visitors’ book kept at Bangabandhu Bhaban in Tungipara.

Khulna Naval Region commodore, BNFWA Khulna branch chairman, and other senior officers of the force were also present during the visit.
