The BNS Shadhinota, a type-56 corvette attached to the Bangladesh Navy, left Chittagong port on Sunday to take part in IMDEX Asia-2019, an international maritime expo in Singapore from May 13 to 16.

The four-day expo is one of the biggest naval events in Asia, drawing participants from the naval forces of numerous countries, and countless observers, military consultants and experts. In addition to taking part in IMDEX 2019, BNS Shadhinota will also participate in the Sixth International Maritime Security Conference and the 10th anniversary of the Information Fusion Centre.

Captain Mirza Ali Akbar Siraji is leading the 139-member crew of the ship. They were sent off with due pomp and circumstance by a navy band at the port in the presence of their families and senior naval officers.

The BNS Shadhinota is expected to return home on May 25, after making courtesy calls at Malaysia’s Kelang port and Thailand’s Phuket.
