Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday asked members of the President Guard Regiment (PGR) to remain loyal to the leadership and maintain the chain of command.

"Since it is a disciplined force, you'll always have to maintain the chain of command and discipline," she said while addressing a program of the PGR—marking its 43rd founding anniversary arranged at PGR headquarters in Dhaka Cantonment.

The premier also said the high officials will have to take care of facilities for subordinates, while subordinates will have to maintain discipline by complying with the orders from top officials.

She said her government has always made its best efforts so that the army, navy and air force – as well as other forces entrusted with protecting  the country's sovereignty – could be developed as time-efficient ones with modern equipment.

Focusing on the massive progress achieved by her government in various sectors, Hasina said Bangladesh is now marching towards prosperity.

The prime minister also greeted PGR members and their families on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the force.

PGR commandant Brig Gen Mohammad Jahangir Harun delivered the welcome address at the function.
