A Chittagong court on Tuesday placed 42 people on remand for various terms in Fatikchhari killing case.
A total of 32 Hefazat-Jamaat men, including Bhujpur UP chairman and Jamaat leader Shafiul Alam Nuri, were granted 3-day remand while the rest were granted 2-day remand.
Chittagong senior judicial magistrate Abu Salem Mohammad Noman passed the order when police produced them before the court Tuesday.
Hefazat-e-Islam and Jamaat-Shibir leaders used mosque microphones to call and provoke local people to attack a procession of local Awami League in Kazirhat area under Bhujpur thana of Fatikcharai upazila on April 11. At least three people were killed and 50 others were injured in the clash.
Police arrested 42 people from different areas in separate raids and produced them before the court.
