Though the video does not contain any time stamp, the Dhaka Tribune was able to independently verify that the date of the footage was October 14 and the location was Science Laboratory intersection in Dhaka.
On that day, one Dr Md Iqbal was picked up by members of a law enforcement agency in plain clothes from the said location.
The video also shows a van, bearing a logo similar to Dhaka Metropolitan Police emblem with identifiable trademark police lights, was trailing the unmarked van.
The High Court on Sunday asked the authorities concerned to inform it the initiatives taken so far in rescuing Dr Iqbal.
Meanwhile, a highly placed source confirmed the Dhaka Tribune that Dr Iqbal had been picked up on suspicion of his militancy involvement.
The apex court also issued a ruling, asking the authorities concerned why the inactivity of law enforcement agencies in rescuing Iqbal shall not be deemed as negligence of duty, Iqbal’s attorney advocate Mahbubur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice Md Faruque came up with the ruling, asking the home secretary, inspector general of police, director general of RAB, and DMP commissioner to reply in four weeks.
