CID Chief Abdullah Al Mamun will be the new DG of RAB
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General (DG) Benazir Ahmed has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Meanwhile, Abdullah Al Mamun, the chief of the criminal investigation department (CID) of police, will replace Benazir as DG of RAB.
Ministry of Home Affairs Deputy Secretary Dhananjay Kumar Das issued a gazette notification on Wednesday in this regard.
The gazette of their appointment said the order will be effective from April 15.
The tenure of present IGP Mohammad Javed Patwary will expire on April 13.
Sources have said that the retiring IGP will likely be appointed as ambassador to a country diplomatically important for Bangladesh.
Benazir Ahmed joined Bangladesh Police as an Assistant Police Superintendent (ASP) in 1988.
He has served in various important positions in the country’s law enforcement agencies, including as chief of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
He has been DG of RAB since January 2015.
